Alto Golf Alto Golf is located between the town of Portimão, Alvor and the sea, it's close enough to give the player an occasional sea view during some shots. A simple par-3 opens your round but it is deceiving to what is in store. The course is considered a reasonable test of a player’s ability with strategic bunkers, dog-legs, elevated greens and well placed trees. A further noteworthy challenge is the par-5 on the sixteenth that is considered to be one of the longest holes in Europe.
Alto Golf was the last golf course to be designed by the legendary Sir Henry Cotton in the Algarve. Designed along parkland lines the Alto Golf Course spans across two gently sloping valleys. After Sir Cotton death, the project was continued by Peter Dobereiner, a well known golf journalist. The natural advantages of the Alto terrain have been used to sculpt a garden-like golf course with mature pine, carob, almond, fig and olive trees lining the fairways and giving a long-settled feeling.
Try the birdie at the Giant... On the first nine holes of Alto Golf, players have the added pleasure of enjoying an excellent view over Lagos Bay. The back nine of Alto Golf, set on rolling slopes, includes the remarkable "O Gigante", The Giant at 604 metres, one of the longest in Europe. Any player who manages a birdie here will receive a certificate and his or her name will be inscribed on the club's roll of honour.

Boavista Golf The impressive 18 Hole Championship Boavista golf course has been designed by Howard Swan MSc, past president of The European Institute of Golf Course Architects. His philosophy - to create a course as if it has always been there - has been sensitively applied at Boavista Golf, preserving, integrating and harmonising with the area's natural terrain. Umbrella pines, blossoming almond, fig, palm and olive trees line the rolling fairways, weaving their way between water hazards and carefully placed bunkers.
The most interesting holes of Boavista
With two distinctive sections the Boavista Golf Course offers a variety of attractive and interesting holes commencing with the welcoming first hole, a meandering downhill par-4, bordered by beautiful sub-tropical landscaping leading to harmoniously designed properties. A number of holes at Boavista are already classics - for example, the exciting 6th par 3 requires a tee shot over a natural ravine, while lake holes 14, 15 and 17 provide an interesting array of water features. Breathtaking views over the Algarve and spectacular scenery combine to make the Boavista Golf Course a delight for golfer and visitor alike.
Do not misst the Hole Nr. 7 The signature hole of Boavista Golf, on the outward nine, is the stunning par-4, 7th hole set against a glorious backdrop of the Atlantic ocean with exhilarating panoramic views extending from Praia da Luz round to with the hills at Monchique creating a spectacular backdrop.

Gramascho Golf
The Gramacho Golf Course, in Carvoeiro, Algarve, was originally a nine hole golf course which has been extended and cleverly redesigned to become a fully fledged 18-hole course.
A formidable challenge to its designers Nick Price, the former world Nr.1 player, has teamed up with the well-known golf course architect, Ronald Fream, to create a uniquely designed 18 hole golf course with varied greens that enable the golfer to play the Gramacho several times and experience different greens and new challenges.

Morgado Golf
Lying to the north of Portimao , Morgado Golf Course is laid out in a large 980 hectare estate through undulating small valleys. Morgado Golf Course is probably one of the longest, par 73, in the Algarve. The immediate main characteristic factor is its large greens which place demand on good putting skills, not to forget the deep fairway bunkers: very testing!
According to the architects, "from a design viewpoint the Morgado Golf Course looks very tough, but it plays fair. There are no forced ‘carries’ onto any greens, which means there are no obstacles, like bunkers or water bodies, that are completely in front of a green; there is always more than one route to get on the green.
Wind, as is usual on the Algarve, will play an important role in the challenge of the holes.
Morgado Golf is a flexible course in that there are various pin positions on the greens that can either soften a hole or, make it more testing and dangerous".

Palmares Golf
At Palmares Golf Course, which is close to the historic western Algarve town of Lagos, Frank Pennink (one of the most prolific golf course designers in Portugal) has created a course of undeniable beauty and quality. During springtime, the fairways and hills are covered with the flowering shrubs, acacia... The Blossom from the Almond trees giving the impression of snow covered trees, lining the vivid green fairways beneath a warm springtime sun.
The reputation of the Palmares Golf Course, a Par 71, derives from its skilful use of two different kinds of landscape, as well as its excellent level of maintenance.
Perfect mix of links and inland golf
Therefore, after starting out on a difficult dogleg Par 4 from a high tee, the golfer soon gets into the links which run behind Meia Praia, a great expanse of white sand and high dunes. Hole 5 of Palmares is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most outstanding links hole in Europe.
At hole 6, the Palmares Golf Course turns back inland in the direction of the clubhouse. From here on the player faces just the opposite challenge, with holes designed along curving valleys bordered by pine trees, and affording beautiful views over Lagos Bay and the Monchique mountains.

Parque da Floresta
The Parque da Floresta Golf Course was designed by Pepe Gancedo, one of Spain’s most famous architects, whose philosophy of golf course construction involves minimal alteration to the existing terrain.
The Parque da Floresta Golf Course runs over hills behind the village of Salema, which is near the historic town of Lagos and not far from the Costa Vicentina Nature Reserve. Its varied holes take course along valleys, vineyards and canyons with eucalyptus trees, lined with olive trees, palm trees and pines. Hole 5, Par 3, 180 m is to emphasise, whose only playable point, except of the bunker, is the green itself.
